The purpose of the project is stimulating a shared reflection on racial laws and the subsequent Jewish deportation in those countries under Italian occupation, during the Second World War.
Due to the transantional nature of the project, the final consideration will be a tool to overcome the past, to foster reconciliation while creating a European collective memory. Historiographical research is the scientific methodology applied. Investigation will start from the most careful bibliography on these issues at both national and international level. There will be a consultation of general and specificic works about also, of articles of the most important itnernational journals which wrote on it.
This work will be improved by the historiographical research into the single national units and archives. The dissemination plan foresees a series of workshops which will be held at partners’ institutions. These will be addressed at both scientifi community and students. These seminars will make civil society of hosting countires more aware of European values of peaceful coexistence and tolerance. Moreover, these significantly contriubte to scientific research on the above subject. Then, as international conference will be held at LUISS University in Rome.
This will be attended by both Italian and foreign scholars and students interested in the topic. This event will intorduce final remarks on the work of single units. The resultsi of this meeting will be collected in a special book of papers translated in both Italian and English language. Afterward a photo-documentary exhibition will be set up in the former Ghetto of Rome on the HOlocaust Memorial Day in January 2017.
The catalogue of the event will be translated in both English and the language fo participating countries. These activities will further support the inclusion of younger generations in the transnational culture of dialogue among peoples.
The project « REMSHOA – L’ITALIA E LA DEPORTAZIONE DEGLI EBREI NEI TERRITORI OCCUPATI DURANTE LA SECONDA GUERRA MONDIALE: 1939-1945» was funded with the support of the European Union under the Programme “Europe for Citizens”

Participation: The event involved 45 citizens, including 41 participants from the city of Belgrade (Serbia), 4 participants from the city of Rome (Italy).
Location / Dates: The event took place at the Institute for Recent History of Serbia in Belgrade, Serbia, from 23/03/2016 to 24/03/2016
Short description: The aim of the event, “Paths to survival? Yugoslav Jews and Italian Occupation Zone 1941-1943”, was to analyze the role of the Italian Army in the persecution and deportation of Jugoslav Jews Community during the Second World War. In this case the attitude of Italian Authorities was ambiguous and very difficult to conduct a common approach to the Jews question.
Participation: The event involved 30 citizens, including 30 participants from the city of Rome (Italy).
Location / Dates: The event took place at Università degli Studi Roma Tre in Rome (Italy), on the 24/10/2016
Short description: The aim of the event “Gli ebrei nelle colonie italiane durante la Seconda guerra mondiale was to describe the approach of political and military Italian authorities towards the Jews Community in the Italian colonies (Eritrea, Etiopia, Libia and Somalia). Also in this case, the Italian approach was quite different from Germans.
Participation: The event involved 31 citizens, including 31 participants from the city of Rome (Italy).
Location / Dates: The event took place at Sapienza University of Rome (Rome, Italy), on 02/12/2016
Short description: The aim of the event ”L’Italia e la deportazione degli ebrei nei territori occupati durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale: 1939-1945. La Grecia” was to analyze the deportation of Jews Community from Salonicco e from the Greek islands during the Second World War. In this case, the Italian authorities cooperated actively with Germans in the deportation of Jews.
Participation: The event involved 100 citizens, including 99 participants from the city of Tirana (Albania, 1 participant from the city of Rome (Italy).
Location / Dates: The event took place at the Academy of Sciences of Albania, “Aleks Buda” Hall, in Tirana (Albania), on the 27/01/2017
Short description: The aim of the event “JEWS IN ALBANIA Crossed Perspectives” was to illustrate the presence of Jews Community in Albania and the attitude of Albanian people and Italian authorities towards this Community.
Participation: The event involved 130 citizens, including 94 participants from the city of Rome (Italy),
3 participants from the city of Beograd (Serbia), 1 participant from Moscow, Russia, 1 participant from Kingston Canada, 32 participants from Rome International School.
Location / Dates: The event took place at LUISS Guido Carli in Rome, from 10/05/2017 to 11/05/2017
Short description: The aim of the event “L’Italia e la deportazione degli ebrei nei territori occupati durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale: 1939-1945”, was to realize a final international conference with the objective to summarize the research held in the different workshops. This conference showed the result of research of each workshops and illustrated the Italian historical debate on the Jews Racial Laws and the consequent persecution of the Italian Jews Community.

Short description: The aim of the event was to realize an exhibition (documents and photos) to illustrate the Italian military attitude to the Jews Community during the Second World War. This exhibition, written in English and in Italian, has the aim to realize a great dissemination and vulgarization of the scientific research among the public opinion and young generations.
